The Central Election Commission (CEC) delegation is currently on a study visit in the United States. The aim of this visit is to strengthen the CEC’s cooperation with international partners and foreign election administration bodies, as well as to learn the best practices in election processes and election administration. The CEC delegation consists of CEC Chair Oleh Didenko, who is the head of the delegation, and CEC Deputy Chair Vitaliy Plukar, CEC Secretary Olena Gataullina, CEC member Oksana Boyarchuk, and the Head of International Cooperation Department of the CEC Secretariat Oksana Kostiv.
Throughout the visit, the CEC delegation will meet with a variety of stakeholders and election experts, including members of local election administration bodies, representatives of US government agencies, and international organizations. The CEC delegation will focus on these key areas: the use of information technology in elections and cybersecurity, countering misinformation and foreign influence in the election process, and exchange of experiences in election administration. The study visit takes place following the official invitation by international partners.
On 7 September 2021, a number of meetings took place at the United Nations, including with the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Mr. Serhiy Kyslytsya, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the UN, Mr. Robert Rae, and the Directors of the Election Assistance and Europe and Central Asia Divisions of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Craig Jenness and Herve Lecoq.
During the meetings, the existing forms of assistance provided by the UN to other states and election commissions in the field of election organization, forms of international cooperation, including exchange of experience were discussed.
